Help me to help other
daughters of narcissistic mothers?

Since I set up this website in April 2009 it has grown every month until we are now - a mere seven months later - averaging 7500 unique visitors a month. (Update: as of February 2011 we're now averaging over 30,000 unique visitors a month.)

The membership of our forum now stands at over 800 (update as of February 2011 it's just hit the 5,000 mark), and not only is growing, but the rate of increase is growing too.

Every day we hear heartfelt comments from our members (see some examples below), saying how much this website and forum have helped them. And it's understandable. The narcissistic mothers invalidate us, and the website and forum give validation, sometimes for the first time ever.

The narcissistic mothers try to make us think we're crazy, and with this information we find out we're not.

Our friends with normal mothers really don't get it, and often invalidate us - not nastily, with no ill intent, but it's invalidation all the same.

On the website, and in our forum, we Daughters finally get understood.

It's an essential service.

But we're not reaching enough women.

There are so many women out there, hurting and miserable and not finding the answers. I have so many ideas about how to reach them (see below), but time is the issue. I am busy with other projects which bring in the money to pay the bills, and this project has to cope with left over bits of time. And with that time, I post on the forum, supporting our existing members - I'm not getting time to progress the project.

What I would do with more time is:

• Write more pages for this website, many more, each one based around a keyword that women are searching for. For example, women are searching for the term 'bad mother-daughter relationships'. If I wrote a page for that term, I could rank high enough in the search engines, quite quickly, that they'd find this website, and if the issue is that their mother is NPD, they'd get the answer they need.
  
• Write articles based on both existing and new keywords and submit them to article directories, Squidoo, HubPages etc. This is a terrific way to get found on the internet, but it takes time. And I can't even copy and paste my existing articles as Google frowns on duplicate content and even penalises you for it. So I need to write fresh articles.
  
• Research more resources. For instance I got a review copy of a book on how to deal with awkward people, and I haven't been able to read it yet. I want to evaluate and share good resources, and that takes time.
  
• Make the forum more user-friendly, e.g. provide graphics of where the relevant resources are so people can learn their way around more easily.

As I say, I have the ideas and the skills to do all this, I just lack the time. So, after brainstorming with some friends, I have come up with the following suggestion. If you'd like to support this work, and help me get this resource into the hands of more Daughters, would you consider signing up for a small monthly donation (which you could cancel at any time)?

Let me be very clear about this, so that I am not misrepresenting myself in any way: this money would be going into my pocket. But it would be going towards my living expenses so I could take time from my other projects and devote more time to this. It wouldn't be for me to take fancy holidays or trips on. I intend to divide the income by my hourly rate (that I can earn elsewhere) and allocate that many exta hours to the project each month.

Any donation, no matter how small, will contribute to this work. As I say, you can cancel at any time (there's an unsubscribe button below), and the money will go, indirectly but absolutely, to helping more Daughters find this resource.
